Never allow yourself to be deceived into believing the pseudonymous impression that people you can’t see their inside are all good people. Just like every other person, Adam Robert Corden Britton has a beast inside of him which no one could ever have possibly imagined.
Britton, 53, was born in the United Kingdom. He runs the crocodile research consultancy Big Gecko with his former wife before being arrested two years ago. He was also a well-respected senior research associate at Charles Darwin University.
He suffers from zoophilia – a mental illness that makes someone to develop sexual attraction towards animals. He maltreats animals and sexually exploits them, described as ‘sadistic sexual pleasure’.
Before he was later discovered and nabbed by the security operatives in April 2022, Britton, a pre-eminent crocodile specialist and zoologist with a PhD in that capacity, had committed unimaginable and unbelievable atrocities, which include exploitation and mistreatment of animals.
This dark practice by Adam underscores the fact that everyone is a reflection of what they are against. Some people have become the feist of the eyes foe for their constant appearance on the media to advocate for freedom of the poor masses and uphold the rights of humanity, but behind closed doors, they’re the opposite of what they display in the open. Adam preaches non-violent treatment of animals in the open, but flouts the same preaching in the dark.
Adam’s grosteque and sadistic experiment began with his two female dogs (Ursa and Bolt) in 2014. Between 2020 and 2022, quite a number of dogs and puppies fell in the abyss of his ‘sickening bestiality’ and ‘animal cruelty’, which earned his home a search warrant that set the background for his arrest. He equally has a shipping container which he named his “torture room” where he exploits, tortures, and kills dogs. An estimated number of 42 dogs were reportedly found at his disposal, 39 of which had been tortured to death and fed to his 8 gigantic crocodiles. Dog limbs were also found inside a freezer in his home, including the decomposing body of a puppy in a pond, and a severed dog’s head on a neighboring property.
His double life came undone in March 2022 when a video he had shared went viral and an internet user noticed a bright orange Darwin council dog leash in the background. In the video, Britton was seen abusing, torturing, and killing an adult female dog as well as at least eight puppies.
How He Does It
On an online marketplace called Gumtree Australia, Britton would try to get in touch with dog owners who are about to go on a trip or who are currently quite busy at work. He would establish a rapport with them and persuade them to give him their dogs on the understanding that they would be placed with loving homes.
Once the dogs were in his possession, he would snap a lot of images of them in beautiful environments. He would be sending the dog owners these photos to give them the idea that their pets are doing well in their new surroundings. After that, he takes the dogs to his torture chamber, where he will mistreat and abuse them.
He created accounts online (mostly on Telegram) under false pretenses and shared videos of these dogs being abused and molested. He had followers who have similar interests. He would instruct them on how to harm animals in the same way without being discovered. One of them asked him how he gets rid of the dead dogs. He replied that he would just feed them to other animals. The other animals in his reply are the 8 crocodiles he kept on his property.
Given that his illegal actions were carried out inside a shipping container, neither his identity nor the source of the videos could be determined. That was until a bright orange City of Darwin dog leash was spotted in the background of one of the videos. There was a slip up.
The Dark Veil Unmasked
The NT Police and the Australian Federal Police’s Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team launched Operation Haine after receiving an anonymous tip. The investigation’s results identified Britton as the offender. The operative stormed his home and seized 44 items including computers (containing 15 files containing child abuse material), mobile phones, cameras, external hard drives, tools, weapons, dog paraphernalia and sex toys.
Adam Robert Corden Britton, who entered a guilty plea to over 60 charges of sickening bestiality, animal cruelty, and possessing 15 child exploitation material, was sentenced to 10 years and five months in prison by Northern Territory Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael Grant on August 8, 2024. The prison sentence was backdated to 2022 when he was first arrested which goes to mean that he has eight years left to serve his sentence.
He was also barred from owning any mammal for life.
