Man arrested over alleged sexual assault with 5-year-old daughter in Ogun Operatives of Ogun State Police Command, has arrested a 28 years old man, Adeyemi Babatunde, for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of his 5 years old biological daughter (name withheld). The spokesperson of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement he made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital on Thursday. The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at Ijebu Mushin divisional headquarters, by the mother of the victim. According to Oyeyemi, the woman reported that she noticed her daughter had been complaining of pain whenever she wants to urinate and whenever she was bathing for her and she touch her private part. She said, “having noticed this, she pressurized the little girl to tell her what happened to her private part”. “It was then the victim informed her that her father laid her on the bed and inserted his manhood into her private part when the mother was not at home.” “Upon the report, the DPO Ijebu Mushin division, CSP Simire Hillary, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was eventually arrested.” “On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime, but claimed not to know what comes over him as at that time.” Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Resident doctors suspend 5 days warning strike, resume work today National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, yesterday, suspended its 5-day nationwide warning strike. National President of the association, Dr. Emeka Orji, told Journalists that work resumes by today 8a.m., all federal and state Teaching Hospitals as well as other hospitals where resident doctors are trained. He said: “Strike has been suspended and work resumes at 8a.m., tomorrow (today). Progress made will be reviewed on June 2. 2023, during our general meeting where the next line of action will be decided.” Recall that the doctors under the auspices of the National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, began a five-day warning strike in public health facilities across the federation on Wednesday last week. Some of the demands of the doctors include; immediate massive recruitment of clinical staff in the hospitals and abolishment of the bureaucratic limitations to the immediate replacement of doctors and nurses who leave the system, immediate infrastructural development in public hospitals with a subsequent allocation of at least 15 percent of the budgetary provisions to health in line with the Abuja declaration of 2001 and immediate increment in the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, CONMESS, to the tune of 200 per cent of the gross salary of doctors among others.

Four Ekiti Kidnappers eating corn in police custody By Toheeb Omotayo The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Dare Ogundare, on Friday, paraded 16 suspects arrested for various criminal activities. Four of them were nabbed over alleged kidnapping in the Oke Ako area of the state and parts of Kwara State. Ogundare, who assured that the command would continue to fight crime, said the suspects would be charged at the completion of investigations. The CP said the police in Ekiti, in conjunction with the Kogi State Police Command, arrested one Abu Hassan, popularly known as Danger, and Abubakar Sodiq, who were notorious kidnappers that had been terrorising residents around Iyemero/Oke-Ako/Irele/Ipao-Ekiti areas of Ekiti. The police boss said the kidnap victims in the Oke Aki axis identified Danger. “One locally-made single-barrelled gun and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspects. An effort is ongoing for the possible arrest of other fleeing suspects,” he added. The commissioner noted that men of the command also arrested one Umar Hassan and Yusuf Lawal for allegedly invading the Ayenco area, Eda-Ile Ekiti, and kidnapping one Mary Olajumoke, who was released after a ransom was paid. He said, “Upon the arrest of the suspects, two cutlasses and a cash sum of N82,200, which was part of the ransom collected, were recovered from them.” According to him, other suspects included those arrested over alleged membership of a cult and armed robbery, among others.
